5. Her Mother's Face
Prompt: A line from a poem
her mother's face
She stayed awhile
with her mother's face…
a face now at rest
slack, mouth slightly opened.
Eyes closed. She felt the top of her mother's head...
the heat of her spirit
passing through
the crown chakra and into the ethers
She stayed
awhile with her mother's face…
watching the transformation
of cells and
tissues
into a lifeless face, lined and still
She stayed awhile with
her mother's face
as it began looking not like her mother's face
there
was becoming a stranger before her
Her mother was leaving. Had left.
This
face could be the face of an angel
come to take her mother's place.
She stayed awhile with her mother's face
studying a certain line
that wove it's way down the side of her cheek and mouth
She heard her
mother's jubilant laughter
She saw her mother's diamond sparkling
eyes.
She stayed awhile with her mother's face
She felt the arms of
her mother about her
And heard the hint of a whisper
